  • Have you ever goten sick on the trip? do you like seeing all the dogs you have met? how many dogs have you seen so for on your trip? do you think you will see more dogs on your trip? how many people have contacted you so for.

  • Hi E&A–for the dang longest time I’ve wanted to write. Your website is great. Love the pictures and the stories and traveling with you. Looks like you’ve been hearing from a lot of people back home. Hope it brings you comfort and the sense you still belong here too!
Some friends and I biked 10 days in Catalonia/Spain this past fall. It was gorgeous. Loved the long climbs in the Pyranees overlooking the Costa Brava (Mediterranean sea), the local liquer, and tapas.
I had a bad bike crash last June (a month after you left) My front tire fell into a rut when I was swerving around an oncoming jogger. I was launched 25-30 feet over my handle bars…. Where Midtown Rd. meets Timber lane. Amubulance, blood, emergency room, stitches but no broken bones. Some lingering range of motion and stiffness problems. Working through all that cuz I’m shooting for a 19 day expedition in the Nepal Himalayas this fall. Still somewhat of a debate because of the injury.
David and Sarah are really nice and seem to have integrated easily into the Madison scene. They’ve asked about you, as well as Shawn and Kent (next door neighbors) and a few of my friends. We’re all super jealous ya know! Speaking of Madison scene…. Have you heard about Gov. Walker’s collective bargaining rights bill? The number of protestors at the state capital is incredible 70,000 – 100,000 estimated over the weekend. If you haven’t already checked out the pictures on youtube or Madison local news check it out.
Miss you guys a lot and I think of you all the time! Take care of each other. ooxx Fred

  • Hello guys,
I hope you are doing well and your journey is being on schedule.

It was nice to see you in Panama at the shopping mall in Paitilla.

You may wonder why took me that long to contact you, but I have a very hectic schedule and even willing to do it early, always something came across.

but the important thing is that I am doing it now. I don’t know if you are still in Panama or have advance to Colombia. In any case I hope you are doing well and as soon I find the address for the guy in Argentina, I will send it over.

While in Colombia, let me know if you need something, there are aquintances in Cali, one of your obligated stops before heading South to Ecuador.

Good enough for now guys, keep on it.

    Blessings!

A&E – definitely Arts and Entertainment with the stories and photos of your adventures. I didn’t bike, but spent a couple of weeks traversing Argentina with my husband, sister and brother-in-law. Iguazu Falls – so loud and awesome. Bariloche (the “Alps” of South America) is breath-taking. And your dstination – Ushuaia….El Fin de Mundo (I keep humming Jimmy Buffett’s “There’s a party at the end of the world.”) Thank you for sharing your experiences with the world! Continued safe travels. Be well. Stay well.

  • Alan, hope the Giartia meds are working… yikes, no fun! Erin, loved the video of the vicuna chase! We so look forward to your posts & photos. Glad that the bike is still “going strong” this far into your journey. You will need to turn it into a sculpture and display it in your home! Seriously, are you planning to bring it back with you? Fall colors are really popping here now… so beautiful!

Wishing you continued smooth pedaling, good health, and many laughs along the way.

  • We miss u guys. Good luck on the last leg on the journey.
Glad to hear you will be home for the holidays.

Hard to believe your adventure is winding to a close. You have taken so many people with you – I hope you know how many eyes you’ve opened. The pictures and posts continue to be amazing. Are you thinking of publishing? I just picked up “Take a Seat” by Dominic Gill – are you familiar with it? The fall has been beautiful here – many sunny weekends for biking, hiking, and whatever. I will take your recommendation on an Argetinian Malbac. Best of all on your continued journey south.

  • Hola amigos!!

Un abrazo desde la Patagonia Chilena!

  • Erin and Alan, kids from Marquette are now in middle school. On your return to Madison, if you came back, we would love to have you speak about your adventure. Just yesterday, mentioned your trip to some of these kids and their response was “are they still biking?”, yes, thank you. I am also putting your website on a teen book review site for them to follow your final weeks. best of luck.

I can’t imagine what is going through your minds as this amazing trip comes to a end. you clearly have had your struggles, especially recently with the bike wheel, but what comes through in your posts is simply acceptance, make do with what is available, appreciation for the assistance of strangers become friends, creative problem solving… Your pictures continue to astound me with their simplicity and grand beauty – thank you, thank you, thank you… have a very Merry Christmas and a smooth trip home! Kristen

  • We met Hector cycling in Baja, and are now staying with him in Leon. He tell us much about you two. We arrived here the same day you arrived in Ushia. We’ll be there in about a year, unless we change our plans.

Hi A&E ~ (you may have rec’d a partial em just now; I screwed up) Welcome back! Was thrilled to read your recent post. Been experiencing “A&E post withdrawals” recently… so enjoyed following you on the trip.

Good luck job hunting & assimilating back into the “real” world… or is it… hmmmmm

Look forward to seeing you in March. Oh, and good luck with the Berkie!!!

    Warm regards,
    Linda & Tom

  • Congratulation!!! You did it and your bike has probably shown you, thats now a time of break!

  • Welcome back!

  • Kristen (Bill's friend)

Welcome back to Madison. Glad you got right back into the swing of things by signing the recall petition. Life must seem very dull at the moment, but hopefully quite comfortable. From previous post “good luck with the birkie!!!” would that be the “Birkebeiner”? If so, hope to see you on the trails skiing – now that we finally have snow in Madison. Kristen
